In the early part of 1919 the news coming through to England from South Russia spoke of sweeping victories for Denikin's White Army, and promised the speedy downfall of the Bolshevik regime. This intelligence was, however, indefinite in regard to certain vital particulars, and was suspected of being tinged with anti-red partisanship. Denikin¿s campaign, which constituted the chief and final stand of the counter-revolutionists, was not being ¿covered,¿ as by far as the military side of it was concerned, by any English newspaper.
