A beautiful book in attractive tan burlap cloth cover with bold, vaguely Russian/Oriental red/balck/silver cover decoration and bright silver lettering on front and rear cover. Rendered into English b y Anna von Rydingsvard (Baroness von Proschwitz). Sonja Kovalevsky was a brilliant mathematician and won the famous Bordin prize in 1888 - the hightest European prize any mathematician could receive. With a beautiful appreciation of this highly complex woman by the translator who was also a close friend of hers. 197pp
